1

How do I reset to factory settings?

2

How do I add or remove components?

  • You cannot: every build already contains the largest available set. The memory layout differs between models, so it is impossible to add all components. Viewing the installed components from the system is not available.
3

There is no USB port speed switch

  • On models with USB 3.0 the switch may be missing from the web interface. To change the port mode, run the command in the CLI:

To switch to USB 2.0:

Enter one command at a time
  1. system set dev.usb.force_usb2 1
  2. system configuration save

To switch to USB 3.0:

Enter one command at a time
  1. system set dev.usb.force_usb2 0
  2. system configuration save

How do I add a device to Mesh?

Tip

  • Mesh can be set up both with original routers and with clones.
  • Make sure the devices have different service data — Mesh capture requires it.
  • It is better to capture flashed devices over a cable. After a successful capture you can unplug it: the connection switches to Wi-Fi.

If you run into problems, see the troubleshooting section.

5

Can I update with the official firmware?

  • No. A self-update may overwrite the bootloader, and the device will no longer start. Recovery will then require UART or a programmer.
6

The official bootloader is installed

Info

If the official bootloader is installed and cannot be replaced the usual way:

  1. Download the NAND Breed rewrite file.
  2. In the running system, upload it as an update.
  3. After the reboot, enter Breed and upload the required files following the guide for your model.

Tip

If the router has no room for Entware or does not start, connect via TFTPD64/UART and replace the bootloader.

Tip

On SmartBox Flash the stock bootloader expects the file name KN-1810_recovery.bin for TFTPD64

The system does not boot past Breed

Enter this command in Telnet:

shell
abstatus

a) Autoboot command has been successfully executed / Firmware boot failed.
The firmware was not written correctly. On devices with NAND memory use method #3.

b) Autoboot was interrupted by button press.
The Reset button was held during power-on. If nobody pressed it, roll back to another Breed version or use the version for another device.
