Preparing for flashing§

  1. Download and unpack the firmware archive The “Download” button is in the panel under the device name.
  2. Connect the router to the computer with a cable (Ethernet) Flashing over Wi-Fi is not possible.

Installing from stock firmware§

  1. Installing OpenWrt Install OpenWrt.

  2. Saving the calibration In LuCI (the System - Backup / Flash firmware tab), save the factory partition (also known as eeprom).

  3. Preparing the EEPROM Open the “Set MAC” tool, load the EEPROM from the previous step and enter the MAC address from the sticker. Download the generated eeprom.bin.

  4. Preparing the archive Put the prepared EEPROM into the folder.

  5. Installing the package Install the kmod-mtd-rw package or update with openwrt-sysupgrade.bin — it already contains the package.

  6. Serving the bootloader Serve KeenBOOT-SB_Turbo.bin for your model from the archive with HFS.exe.

  7. Finding the partition Run over SSH:

    shell
    cat /proc/mtd

    Sample output:

    dev: size erasesize name
    mtd0: 10000000 00020000 "u-boot"

Note the name of the mtd0 partition — it is u-boot, Bootloader or bootloader. Use it in the last command instead of u-boot.

  8. Writing the bootloader Run over SSH:

Enter one command at a time
    1. cd /tmp
    2. wget http://192.168.1.2/KeenBOOT-SB_Turbo.bin
    3. insmod mtd-rw i_want_a_brick=1
    4. mtd unlock /dev/mtd0
    5. mtd write /tmp/KeenBOOT-SB_Turbo.bin u-boot
    6. reboot
  9. Enter the KeenBOOT bootloader by holding the Reset button.

  10. Upload Firmware, EEPROM and U-Config from the archive for the Turbo or Turbo Plus model one by one through the web interface following the instructions.

  11. Reboot into the system.
